Abstraction – Towards a New Art – Painting 1910-1920: The exhibition wich this catalogue accompanies is the first loan exhibition to be presented in the new extension galleries of the Tate. The exhibition makes use of the wide spaces and flexibility of the architecture to show how abstract painting sprang up everywhere, almost simultaneously, on the basis of innovations that had mainly taken place in Paris – then the hub of the art world.
