History of Men’s Costume – Costume Reference: One important aspect of men’s fashion is the degree to which styles common to women’s costume have been adopeted; the cote-hardie, for example, and the tall hats with ribbons and feathers so popular in Elizabethan times. In the Restoration period high-heeled shoes and frilled decorations were favoured by both sexes, as were jewellery and make-up.
