Oi For England by Trevor Griffiths: A skin-head rock band rehearses in a basement in Manchester on looted instruments while the post-Toxteth riots rage in the street outside. They are desesperate for their first public gig, and when they are offered one not every member of the group either sees or cares about the non-musical strings attached.
Trevor Griffiths has written a powerful and uncompromising play about, and addressed to, todays angry and disaffected urban youth. It was transmitted on Central TV on 17 April 1982 and will subsequently be performed in a stage version at various studio and fringe venues around the country including The Royal Court Theatre Upstairs.
