Zoonoses of Primates: zoonoses are the diseases of animals transmissible to man, in whom they often produce symptoms much more serious than they do in their non-human hosts. The latter are carriers that may have achieved an equilibrium with their parasites so that no adverse symptoms are seen, but when transmission to man occurs the resulting disease may produce grave consequences. Among non-human primates the simian carriers of yellow fever and B-virus are well-known reservoirs of such diseases. This book therefore gives a firm foundation on which to build further research.
